Halfsquatch was an online serial novel and photography exhibition that debuted in summer 2008.
The story followed seventeen-year-old Rebecca Richman, an outcast in her Yukon town, who spends her days making over thrift store dolls and dreaming of art school. But when Rebecca’s family secret is exposed, her life is turned upside-down in this story of exploitation, identity — and hair removal.
104 pieces of art were created for the series by assembling collages using images found in vintage magazines, then photographing the finished pieces with a Holga CFN camera and expired Agfa RSX-II slide film that was cross-processed for a hyper-colour, saturated effect.
Halfsquatch is now retired.
